Characteristics of steel grade Duplex 2205 / Duplex 2205：

ASTM A240 - Standard Specification for Chromium and Nickel-Chromium, Chromium and Manganese-Nickel Stainless Steels for Plates, Sheets, Strips for Pressure Vessels and General Applications .

ASTM A167 - Standard Specification for Stainless and Heat Resistant Chromium-Nickel Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip.

Duplex 2205 is nitrogen reinforced stainless steel. Specially designed for use in highly corrosive environments where 

the use of conventional stainless steel is impractical. UNS S32205 is an improved version of S31803 stainless steel 

that provides a higher corrosion resistance class.

Chemical composition in % steel Duplex 2205 : 

The content of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen in the chemical composition of 2205 steel provides super 2205 

with excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. In this regard, 2205 steel is the best alternative to 

316L and 317L steels for high humidity conditions.

Mechanical properties of material Duplex 2205 :

Due to its excellent mechanical properties, Duplex 2205 excels in premature failure and sea water service. Also, 2205 

steel is resistant to chloride cracking at 150℃.

It should be noted that the use of duplex 2205 steel is not recommended at temperatures above +316℃ and below -50℃.

Super duplex 2205 is characterized by high mechanical strength, energy absorption and low thermal expansion.
