Characteristics of steel grade AISI 904L / SS 904L：

ASTM A240 - Standard Specification for Chromium and Nickel-Chromium, Chromium and Manganese-Nickel Stainless Steels for Plates, Sheets, Strips for Pressure Vessels and General Applications .

ASTM A167 - Standard Specification for Stainless and Heat Resistant Chromium-Nickel Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip.

AISI 904L is a super-austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. Differs in the increased corrosion resistance in strong 

aggressive environments. Also, AISI 904L steel exhibits special resistance in sea water, has high resistance to pitting, 

crevice and intergranular corrosion. It should be noted that the level of anti-corrosion resistance of AISI 904 L is higher 

than that of metals of the chromium-nickel-molybdenum group.

The high nickel content of the composition provides AISI 904L with excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. 

Copper contributes to better acid resistance, especially in the most aggressive medium strength range.
