Characteristics of steel grade Alloy 254SMO / S31254：

Alloy 254 SMO is an austenitic stainless steel alloy with high resistance to general, pitting and crevice corrosion due to 

its high molybdenum and nitrogen content. Alloy 254SMO was developed specifically for the pulp and paper industry and 

for offshore use on oil and gas platforms. Alloy 254 is resistant to corrosion in neutral and acidic aqueous solutions, reducing 

and halogenated environments.It is superior in strength to conventional austenitic stainless steels and has good weldability. 

Used to create an anti-corrosion layer on the inner surface of coated pipes used in oil and natural gas transportation systems.

Scope of application Alloy 254SMO：

Sandvik 254 SMO is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel developed for use in seawater and other aggressive

 chloride-bearing media. The steel is characterized by the following properties:

Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, PRE = ≥42.5

High resistance to general corrosion

High resistance to stress corrosion cracking

Higher strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels

Good weldability

Nickel Alloy 254SMO / 1.4547 is a super austenitic molybdenum alloy stainless steel with high corrosion resistance. 

According to this indicator, nickel alloys are significantly superior to ordinary stainless steels.

Special properties:

Steel 254SMO / 1.4547 successfully resists crevice and pitting corrosion, halides in acidic environments, resistant to 

chlorides and concentrated acids. The dynamic sales of stainless steel of this grade are also explained by good 

weldability, ease of forming and lack of magnetic properties. The maximum use temperature is 400 degrees.

Areas of use :

Given the unique properties of the alloy, which perform well in the most difficult conditions, it is possible to buy stainless
