Scope of application QN1803：

Standard and application of high strength nitrogen-containing austenitic stainless steel QN1803

The new product grade QN1803 is the world's first nitrogen-containing, high-corrosion-resistant, nickel-saving 

austenitic stainless steel product. On the basis of ensuring the corrosion resistance comparable to AISI 304 

stainless steel, the strength of the material is increased, and the material cost is reduced, so that it has higher cost 

performance and stronger market competitiveness than AISI 304 stainless steel.

The QN1803 has the following features:

1) The pitting equivalent (PREN=Cr+3.3Mo+30N-Mn) is above 19.0 and has at least the same pitting resistance as 

Inox 304 stainless steel. In the environment of dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, acetic acid + salt and other 

environments, the resistance to uniform corrosion is much better than that of 304 stainless steel.

2) Corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel in actual use after bending, stamping, hard state and other 

cold forming.

3) The yield strength is 1.3 times or more of Inox 304 stainless steel, and has an elongation of not less than 45%. 

Wear resistance and fatigue performance are better than 304 stainless steel.

4) Good welding performance, the strength after welding is higher than that of 304 stainless steel, and the corrosion 

resistance is equivalent to that of 304 stainless steel. Table 1 compares the corrosion resistance of various stainless steels.
